For me, drawing is about noticing things, and trying to capture what I notice.
I draw and illustrate when I can - a combination of direct observation, taking photos, memory and my imagination. I love working in a range of mediums- pen and ink, charcoal and pencil.
I am focusing more and more on english folk lore and traditional rural ways, traditions and rituals. As well as drawing to shed light on something, I also like to create a sense of the unusual, a space where humor, pathos and tenderness can mingle.
I live with my family near Frome, Somerset. Since doing a Masters in Sequential Illustration in 2007 at Brighton University, I make art as much as I can between work and family life. I have a collection of etchings held in the Imperial War Museum archives, have exhibited in galleries accross the UK, as well as doing commissions for a number of clients, private and museum based.
